100% of graduates received job offers.
,The time to prove ourselves had come. Our first cohort of students was graduating and expecting Empowr to hold up our end of the bargain. We had to get them jobs.
Unlike existing programs, we don’t believe in just teaching a skill. The populations we serve have lost faith in the education system. Empowr renews that faith by showing our students that a quality education leads to high-paying careers. Upon graduation, 100% of our students received job offers.
Empowr’s first hiring partner.
Secureworks hired our first cohort as Software Engineers and User Experience Designers. An opportunity like this is no small thing. Secureworks took the chance to ensure these kids received a life-changing opportunity that will be felt for generations in these families.
15 New Students.
15 new students were brought in as Cohort 2. These students will spend the next 3-4 years learning iOS Development through Empowr’s Royalty Program.
The New Alexandria
Empowr launched it’s learning platform that allows students to code from any device.
Our platform utilizes an Open edX instance hosted by ABC. By doing so, students can participate in our programming in a self-paced manner. Our custom-developed plugins, allow our students to code directly in the browser, removing the need for expensive laptops.

We welcomed Angela and Angelique to the Empowr board of directors as the Special Projects Director and Director of School Relations, respectively.
Empowr has raised over $250,000 this year thanks to our donors, such as Secureworks, True Ventures, BlackRock, GitHub, Hopper-Dean Foundation, and more.
We gained nine new donors/partners this year. We are grateful to have added these key supporters to our network.
We didn’t expect this win, but we got it. We are now teaching directly at South Atlanta High School. Their students will receive in-person classes during the school day.
